Trips to Nepal

October 2025

A team of RNV Nepal trustees and associated friends are heading out to Nepal in October.  Aiming to keep up relations with our friends in the Kohkana district of Kathmandu and explore new friendships at the Durga School in Lumbini.

The team will endeavour to continue the development projects alongside Nepalese friends and colleagues; the Nepal Health Checks, first aid training and speaking to the community to find out more about how we can work together.

Modern technology has allowed us all to keep in touch so easily, via WhatsApp, for example but being together means so much more and makes listening to the community so much easier.  We hope to review projects that have received funding in recent times, making sure we fulfil our obligations to the UK charity commission, whilst also finding out more about what support the community may need assistance with going forwards.

It is setting up to be a fantastic trip.

'Birkdale In Nepal'

Background story - in brief

Since the year 2000 teams from Birkdale School have travelled to Nepal, on a brilliantly life changing adventure. Each year the groups of students and staff journey with the aims of exploration and service; to see parts of a phenomenally beautiful country and to support educational and poverty alleviation projects.

Working closely with the people of the Kohkana district, on the southern fringe of Kathmandu, has led to a unique relationship that is personal and longstanding.

This relationship of over two decades has led to a shared experience and understanding of each other's situations.  Each year Birkdale School generates a 'Nepal Team' of sixth form students and staff members, who continue this relationship, working hard throughout the year to develop new collaborations and fulfil the life changing expedition to Nepal.

Visiting Nepal and working together with our partners there is a huge part of life at Birkdale, something the school is proud to continue and feels privileged to be a part of.
